Planning & integration
umlaut is already supporting brand new IoT use cases by focusing on existing gaps throughout industries which IoT solutions are successfully closing. Experts from non-telco industries must now be able to understand the telecommunication world in order to design their robust applications and solutions for the market. Such knowledge gaps can only add to the generally high risk for the early adopters. umlaut enables meaningful end-to-end IoT solutions.
umlauts interdisciplinary and cross-industrial teams guide their clients through effectively all the way from concept to implementation to operations.
umlaut is supporting global IoT roll-outs already. We use our market experience to help address the specific market needs in the IoT segment – especially in areas where we see technologies have not been addressed properly so far. In this field we identified IP500 based as a new and promising candidate for industrial applications and commercial buildings. The IP500 IoT platform combines and fulfils required characteristics of the IoT market focusing here on security, robustness and high performance. At BIM-World we would be pleased to share and discuss these experiences with you.

Are you planning to integrate a new IoT network technology in order to digitize your industrial plant, your commercial buildings, city or community infrastructure? Or are you just be before enabling your IoT devices to join new network technologies – umlaut advises and develops with you new concepts for implementation during solution design phase. Furthermore, umlaut performs testing and certifications activities for different network-technologies and its devices. Finally, umlaut integrates the final solution by knowing the local specifics of the planned roll-out. After the implementation we will also proceed by supporting the parties to perform active monitoring, e.g. operational maintenance.
Who is umlaut SE?

Our interdisciplinary capabilities enable us to add value, quality and focus to their organisations and produce. We are an able and agile group of consultancies and engineering firms. 4,500 specialised experts and engineers provide innovative solutions across all industries and their various intersections as well as serving the public sector and developing organisational cultures, structures and processes.
Integration of IoT networks and current Projects
The terms “smart” and “digital” have become very famous in recent years. They describe an increasingly efficient use of existing resources on the basis of networked and remotely controllable devices and installations as well as automatable processes. The ideas behind these marketing terms are not that new. By working in the key trades of technical equipment – building automation, electronic security technology, AV media technology and IT infrastructure – siganet already has years of experience with cross-trade integration planning, which is already achieved today through the intelligent networking of the large number of electrical systems in buildings ensures more energy efficiency, comfort and security and leverages synergies. The siganet team always has the right to meet the client’s requirements in terms of simplicity, usability, availability and energy efficiency.
Focus on BIM
From geometry to function |
Planning processes today are often determined by time-consuming geometric questions in the individual planning areas of property planning and technical equipment.
As a result, those involved in the planning lack the capacities to implement the solutions necessary for more economical building operations due to tight schedules. Here, model-based planning using the BIM (Building Information Modeling) method appears to be a promising option for reallocating planning capacities in the interests of more economical building operations. The world of construction is changing rapidly and always new technical and legal requirements influence the construction process. Projects with a sophisticated architecture and extensive technology are already the norm for us and have brought the previous two-dimensional planning and presentation methods to their limits. However, 3D planning now makes it possible, even very complex technical ones
Integrate structures into a building without collision. The BIM method combines the 3D geometry with the associated data and is today the common tool used by architects and specialist planners for technical building services.
If you look at the planning of the TGA, you can see that all problems relating to geometry, i.e. the actual model, have been largely solved. The challenge for the future development of BIM is to make the attributes of the components stronger to be further developed in such a way that, in addition to the geometric data, systemic information can also be transmitted via the technical interfaces and the device parameters without loss.
Networking and control at all levels
The collective term Internet of Things (IoT) now encompasses all mechanisms that allow systems, system parts, sensors and actuators as wellto control or evaluate generally functional units of technical systems. The technical possibilities start with the remote control of your own household appliances (keyword “Smart Home”) and end with the complex control of machine parks, related production plants or the implementation of efficient energy and environmental measures in buildings and facilities. It is particularly interesting that the individual componentsnetworked and linked to form an efficiently controlled overall system that is subject to a set of rules that can be continuously optimized. There are hardly any limits to the imagination and what is ultimately feasible.
Who is siganet GmbH?
siganet was founded in 1999 as a planning office for MSR technology and quickly developed into an engineering office operating throughout Germany for the key trades of technical equipment: building automation, electronic security technology, AV media technology and IT infrastructure.
We provide a comprehensive, manufacturer-independent range of consulting services for public and private clients. In view of the increasingly complex interrelationships in building technology today, the combination of technical planning and interdisciplinary advice is almost unique.
We have consistently operated the integration planning since the beginning and embed single and island solutions in a holistic system. From the first idea to the overall concept ready for implementation to the acceptance. Our systems meet the requirements of our customers in terms of simplicity, usability, availability and energy efficiency.
siganet Projects:
Wilo Dortmund
The Wilo Group is currently building a completely new headquarters at the Dortmund location on a property the size of over 26 soccer fields. Production, administration, product development and customer service will be brought together again at a single location in the Ruhr area. With the Smart Factory, the company is opening up a gross floor area of over 55,000 m 2 a production and development facility with Industry 4.0 standard. The construction project is part of a holistic planning that includes all properties in a higher-level, common automation and security system in order to ensure more efficient management of the entire area. In building automation, the communication standards OPC UA and BACnet / IP ensure interoperability between products from different manufacturers. At the management and operating level (MBE) there is onevirtual environment with four Windows Server instances. MS-SQL-Server is used as the central database system. The MBE can be accessed either via terminal server or web-based via HTML5.
Tegel Airport Berlin
An innovative infrastructure concept was developed for the subsequent use of Berlin TXL. The special feature is characterized by its holistic approach – integrated across all infrastructure mediais. The result is a so-called “Smart GRID” – Green Resource Infrastructure Distribution – that is intelligent network structure enables an exchange of information and material flows and thus can achieve positive effects.Berlin TXL will be a worldwide unique location for the development and testing of energy the world of tomorrow. Here, companies, universities and innovative founders jointly shape the future of the energy transition. Of course, there are many more options for renewable energies than the sun. There is hardly a better place for this than Berlin: This is where the federal research institutions and the government are. So the energy transition is not just being decided here, it is being made here. Siganet played a key role in drawing up the master plan that has now been adopted. The Senate Department for Urban Development (SenStadt) commissioned siganet to conduct the user discussions, the requirements planning and the cost estimate for the entire technical equipment in the buildings and the outdoor facilities. The task includes the complete renewal of the technical building equipment – expressly also in terms of integration planning. The order also includes the development of a cross-section automation and safety concept as well as the definition of the interfaces between the technical trades and with the building construction. The decision of the Senate now enables SenStadt to continue the planning process on the basis of the master plan.
