Increased efficiency through the use of autonomous and interoperable systems

How can construction machinery and BIM models work together more efficiently? What standards are needed for uniform data communication? And how can digitalization sustainably optimise processes in the construction industry?
Our moderator, Dr. Oliver Geibig (Fischerwerke), discussed these questions with Dr. Darius Soßdorf (MiC 4.0 VDMA), Marcus Daubner (BAUER Spezialtiefbau) and Christoph Remmers (Porsche Consulting) at BIM World MUNICH.
The focus was on the bidirectional connection between BIM and machines: While machines require precise planning data for efficient control (BIM to Machine), they simultaneously deliver valuable production data back to the model (Machine to BIM). Standardization remains a key challenge – uniform definitions and data formats are essential to enable end-to-end interoperability.
