BIM World MUNICH exhibition

BIM World MUNICH has once again proved to be the central platform for the digital construction and real estate industry

Munich/Paris, November 30, 2018. More than 4,000 visitors and 156 exhibitors! Taking place on the 27th and 28th of November 2018, the BIM World MUNICH has repeatedly shown strong growth and highlighted the importance of the interdisciplinary exchange in the construction industry.

Under the patronage of Andreas Scheuer, the Federal Minister for Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the exhibiting companies, the innovation area for start-ups as well as renowned speakers at the conference and in various breakout sessions have demonstrated how innovative digital technologies and smart solutions can make planning, building and maintaining of the buildings future-oriented. For two days rich in new impressions and valuable insights, the entire AEC industry has met at the International Congress Center in Munich. The BIM World has developed to the most important ecosystem for the digitalization of the construction and real estate industry.

Not only the talk of Nicholas Brathwaite from KATERRA about the “industrialization” and the paradigm shift in the construction industry on the BIM World Main Stage was an absolute highlight of the event, the visitors could also enjoy exciting keynotes held by Dr. Buick (Trimble Buildings), Uwe Wassermann (Autodesk), the Nemetschek Group, Michael Thydell (BIMobject), Lutz Bettels (Bentley Systems), Gregor Müller (BIMsystems) and Jonathan Ascher (Dassault Systemes) and gain insights into the BIM applications, digital facility management and collaborative tools in various breakout sessions.

International Conference

The best projects of SARCO Architects from Costa Rica, the Adidas ARENA from Züblin/Strabag and the VTB Arena Moscow from ARMO-Group were presented as Best Practices 4 BIM. In the top panel discussion, the leading BIM experts from Max Bögl, Xella and CG Group exchanged views on “BIM Across the Building Lifecycle.” This session was moderated by Christophe Sykes from Construction Products Europe.

Construction innovators and disruptors have also showcased their inventions, shedding light on the role of BIM in the real estate industry, modular construction, Cloud/AI 4 BIM and smart IoT buildings, including Savills, Sauerbruch Hutton, YTWO Formative and Piepenbrock Facility Management.

Another highlight of the BIM World 2018 is the newly opened Innovation Area – the BIM Town. At the brand new BIM Town Innovation Stage, the start-ups were pitching their smart solutions, and the winner was crowned after the live evaluation at the BIM World Main Stage.

Innovation World Cup Finalists

The BIM/Smart Construction Award 2018 of the world’s leading Open Innovation Competition, the Innovation World Cup® Series goes to the finalist VOXELGRID.  “A really good invention has to be easy for everyone to apply. VOXELGRID uses a lot of high-tech to easily create 2D plans for existing buildings as quickly as possible. I am very pleased that this idea could convince at the BIM World”, says Christian Wetzel, CEO VOXELGRID GmbH.
