ACCORD

ACCORD

ACCORD (https://accordproject.eu/) is a Horizon Europe project that focuses on automating the building permit and compliance processes using Building Information Modelling (BIM) and other data sources. The project has developed a Semantic Framework that will be demonstrated in five real-life building construction projects across Europe: Germany, Finland, Estonia, the UK, and Spain. The framework includes semantic interoperability, a rule formalisation tool, and integrated micro-services for building permit and compliance checking. This is expected to make the building permit process less error-prone, more predictable, and more objective, supporting the design of climate-neutral buildings and advancing a sustainable built environment in line with the EU Green Deal and the new European Bauhaus initiative. The project has mapped a transformation pathway with key developmental actions achieving the next maturity level for digital building permit processes with automated code-compliance checking from the stakeholders’ perspective: policymakers, building permit applicants, technological service providers and municipalities. The ACCORD project connects research, public and industrial partners from 11 European countries (Finland, Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium, Spain, Estonia, Netherlands, Sweden, France, Bulgaria and Italy). The project partners: VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland (as the coordinator), Fraunhofer, Open Geospatial Consortium, Architects Council of Europe, The City of Hamburg, the City of Malgrat de Mar, Ontotext, Solibri, Future Insight, Aether Engineering, Institut Mines-Télécom, ITEC (Catalonia Institute of Construction Technology), FUNITEC (Fundació Privada Universitat i Tecnologia), Cloudpermit, TEGEL project, Cardiff University, Birmingham City University, buildingSMART International, Jönköping University, Estonian Climate Ministry, and the University of Koblenz. Dr. Rita Lavikka and Mrs. Katja Breitenfelder talk about the EU project ACCORD and the transformation pathway towards digital building permits on Wed 27th of November at 10:15 am at Congress Stage 2.
