Compatible building data is a prerequisite for Building Information Modeling (BIM). But when it comes to existing buildings there is often a lack of it. To deliver the required information on masses and materials – inside and out – is the goal of VOXELGRID GmbH. The Munich-based start-up, which was founded in 2016, is working on a patent-pending process for the collection and consolidation of data. This process is based on methods such as point-cloud processing, automatic area recognition, deep learning and hyperspectral analysis. The long-term goal is to develop realistic, three-dimensional building models that contain all the information about the geometries and structural elements. Currently, the first pilot projects are underway, for example creating 2D floor plans. In addition, a second round of financing is planned.
